As of January 16, 2010, Kingdom Global Ministries received the latest update from Benite Jeune in Haiti. You will rejoice at God's miraculous protection of Benite, one of our global leaders! Please continue to keep him and all of Haiti in your prayers, as well as in your financial support, since the expense will be considerable to rebuild all of the buildings he needs. This has become an open door for the church and us as individuals to make a difference in this nation, and we must not fall short!

"Dear Friends, Co-Labors, Partners,

It was 4:53pm when I was getting ready to attend a conference at 5:00pm with a professor. Suddenly, I heard a great noise and a big shaking. I ran to open the door to go outside; but, as I stood in front of the door, a voice told me not to open it. I went instead to hide under the desks in the room, and in seconds the heavy concrete ceiling fell down. Surrounded by dust, breathing hard, thinking about my family, my wife, my little Daisie, I could hear others already crying for help. It reminded me instantly about what had happened 2 years ago when a school collapsed in Port-au-Prince, where children stayed there for 2, 3 days trapped under the rubble. I thought that the same was happening to me.

Instantly, I began saying, "I am not going to die now!‚" I found a crack of about 14 inches high between two concrete beams (of the floor that I was on and the beam of the ceiling under which I was) and crawled myself out, jumping about 20 feet from the first floor. I was alive but still under shock, traumatized. I still see myself laughing with the person behind me and in front of me a few seconds before the event. I am still wondering why I am still alive ... how could I be here still?

The country has lost a lot; it has a country to rebuild. We lost children, professors, entrepreneurs, teachers, workers, students, etc. According to the last estimates, some 150,000 or more have died and more than 250,000 are wounded. Thousands of houses are destroyed both in and outside of Port-au-Prince.

In Vignier, where we live, we have lost many things:

  1. The school collapsed and needs to be rebuilt.
  2. We lost chairs, benches, desks, file cabinets, etc.
  3. The sewing class was destroyed, along with everything inside.
  4. The cafeteria is on the point of collapse and needs to be demolished as soon as possible.
  5. The depot where we used to put food and other items is on the point of collapse as well. It needs to be demolished before it falls down by itself.
  6. We lost our solar panels that were on top of the school and need replacements.
  7. The front of the church is destroyed and needs big repair.
  8. Money that I had for payroll and food is lost under the rubble, including papers, documents, my address book, etc.
  9. I lost most of my clothes and shoes.
  10. I lost my laptop, my phones, and most of my contact numbers.
  11. My satellite dish is impacted. I came to an internet cafe to write you.
  12. My family and I, along with many other families, are sleeping outside.

That is what happened on the compound in Vignier, but there are many others in and around Vignier that lost their houses as well. It is a tough situation, and it is not over yet.

Haiti needs you, and Vignier needs you, and I need you:

  1. Prayers for Haiti and for the work in Vignier. I am still under that shock, and I am traumatized sometimes.
  2. Your advice is needed on how to approach the situation.
  3. We need builders- construction teams- please come and help us rebuild.
  4. We need agents to help mobilize resources to help rebuild Vignier, Haiti, etc.
  5. We need doctors and nurses to come help in the restoration of our people, physically, mentally, and spiritually.
  6. Etc.

We need you to stand alongside us now, so our country can get back on its feet; for the situation is terrible.

I am considering taking some trips to Canada or the US when the time is right. I will let you know updates on that. For now, you can call me at this number: 011-509-3775 9309 until I can find a way to buy my own phone.

We love you all and thank you deeply,
Bro. Benite Jeune
